It's Monday morning... Lots of work to do... Pick up the pace! Step onto the conveyor belt and get moving!
Have you heard of "hurry sickness"? Yes, hurry has actually been diagnosed as a medical problem because of the damage that hurry-induced stress causes on our bodies. Many of us are prone to rush from one thing to the next and move at a fast pace to get more done - especially at the start of a work day!
How about pushing PAUSE?!
Begin a meeting by lingering in prayer even though there isn't time.
Drive in the slow lane. Walk slowly from your car to your appointment.
Stop in the middle of your work or project to take a deep breath and offer a prayer to God.
Unplug yourself and listen to God... "Be still and know that I AM God" (Psalm 46:10).
Even on Monday morning the green pastures and still waters of our Good Shepherd are available to us!

- I am the Director of Spiritual Formation Ministries at the Crystal Cathedral. I am also a clinical psychologist and spiritual director. I love to write about the spiritual life and every two weeks or so I write an inspirational devotional called "The Christian Soul Care Devotional" which has about 2,000 readers. You can sign up for this free e-mail at our website. My wife Kristi is also a psychotherapist and spiritual director and together we have a ministry to pastors and leaders called "Soul Shepherding." Kristi is my soul mate and we have been married since 1986. We have three teenage children: David (Beloved of God), Jennie (Pure and Beautiful like the Lord), and Briana (Strong in God's Grace). We live in Irvine, CA. Most importantly, I am the disciple Jesus loves and I want you to discover this too!
